My Loan Officer Review:

“We had just bought our first home, and secured a VA Loan for a 30 year fixed rate at 5.7% in May of 2004. I am too easy going, and so in December of 2004 I allowed Daniel from Mortgage Investors Corporation to talk me into refinancing into a VA hybrid ARM that started at 4.5%.

We didn’t realize until we were at closing and signing the papers that our $154,000 dollar loan was going up to $162,000. Closing costs Daniel said…..we almost didn’t sign the papers, and now (over four years later) I wish we had just got up and left.

Now the ARM has caused the Interest Rate on our loan to go up starting this year to 5.25%, and I’m not sure how much it will go up next year. 1% would be too much for us to afford.

I want to refinance again to a reasonable fixed rate mortgage, but I am scared to even call anyone after our last experience. I may not even qualify for a refinance in the present mortgage market because of a $30,000 dollar debt I am carrying presently.”
