Accredited Home Lenders Holding Co. (NASDAQ: LEND) is the mortgage banker which owns the subsidiary Accredited Mortgage Loan REIT Trust (NYSE: AHH.PrA) to raise capital to buy the formers subprime mortgage originations under the name Accredited Home Lenders.

The company has jumped in and out of subprime retail and wholesale, but is now rumored to no longer buy new loans from brokers and is closing most of their retail offices. We located a website, a phone number, and some complaints and lawsuits.

Accredited Home Lenders Review

I my opinion any company making or servicing subprime is fighting a losing battle. Over a year ago, Loan Star Funds entered into a purchase agreement they has since backed out of.

Forbes.com on 8/2/2007 reported it this way,

“Yet only days earlier, private-equity firm Lone Star Funds, which agreed to acquire Accredited Home in a $400 million deal, extended its $15.10 per share offer until Aug. 14. Lone Star initially agreed to purchase Accredited on June 4, but the offer expired on Friday. The original offer represented a premium of 9.7% to Accredited Home’s closing price of $13.76 on June 1, the last business day prior to the announcement of the transaction. The deal is still on track to close in the third quarter. ”

If you are seeking a loan modification from Accredited’s servicing department they do own the loan so direct contact with their servicing department is the right move albeit frustrating.

It appears when I search for complaints against Accredited Home Lenders, there are many. Click the link to see all the Accredited Home Lenders complaints listed in Google.

BBB Activity on Accredited Home Lenders

“Our complaint history for this company shows that the company responded to and gave proper consideration to most complaints. However, some complaints are unresolved meaning the company failed to properly address the complaint allegations or their response was inadequate ”
