McCain Houses - Obama Calls Opponent Out of Touch

When asked the number of McCain houses the Senator owns, he deflected the question defering to his staff. Obama clobbered him for not knowing and suggested he was out of touch with the economy before stating, “And, by the way, the answer is, John McCain has seven homes” according to Washingtonpost.com.
Obama’s point is well taken. It reminds me of President Bush 1, when he didn’t know the price of a gallon of milk. Some say it cost him the election. When the economy is the primary voting issue on the minds of the voters, and to create such a “disconnect” with voters on issues that matter to them…this could more than minor matter.
At the time the Bush 1’s campaign managers passed off the “milk incident” as no big deal but in hindsight most likely revised their opinions. If this “McCain Houses” story gets traction in the mainstream media, the McCain campaign may be looking back with the same 20/20 vision should he lose.
The Washingtonpost.com story reports Obama is striking hard on this topic knowing it could define important differences in the two by saying,
“If you don’t know how many houses you have, then it’s not surprising that you might think the economy is fundamentally strong,” he said. “But if you’re like me, and you got one house, or you are like the millions of people who are struggling right now to keep up with their mortgage so they don’t lose their home, then you might have a different perspective.”
Forget the fact both McCain and Obama are millionaires…if the voters see McCain as out of touch with economic issues…he loses.
It’s that simple…
Good Luck!
