Washington Mutual Mortgage Review

Washington Mutual Mortgage, in addition to being a sizable regional depositor bank, also jumped into subprime mortgage lending with their acquisition of Long Beach Mortgage in 1999. At the time, Long Beach Mortgage was in the top five of subprime mortgage wholesalers with a nationwide network of brokers funneling loans to the Washington Mutual balance sheet. This in my mind signals those in charge cared more about profits than sound lending.
