EMC Mortgage Corporation, a subprime mortgage division of Bear Stearns who’s assets were then bought by JP Morgan Chase has one of the worse records dealing with servicing customers ever. We located three websites, four telephone numbers, and a slew of complaints. We even located a video report with former employees and clients outlining the abuses that lead to an FTC fine.

EMC Mortgage Corporation Review

I my opinion any company getting fined $28 million by the government is a company to avoid. EMC Mortgage Corporation received a $28 million fine by the FTC. If you are seeking a loan modification from EMC Mortgage Corporation direct contact with their servicing department is the place to start.

EMC has been a nightmare for me. First they set me up for a plan over a plan over the phone. Then when I made the payment they acted as if the plan was never approved so my payment went to late fees and they considered me 30 days late. Then they forced some kind of insurance on me even though I have insurance with a different company. They’re customer service has to be the worst ever because you can NevER reach the person you last contacted. And like someone above the denied my modification for the same dumb reasons. Claiming they could not reach me even though they have never left a voice mail on either of the 3 phone numbers I have listed. How are they still able to run a business while plaing with peoples lives. At least now I know I’m not the only one.

Anyone else finding that their computer systems seem to be down half the time I try to speak with a manager/supervisor?

I get the feeling that they make getting any form of help as difficult as possible. Either the manner they handle direct connections (you can only leave an email and get called back), not getting calls back after leaving a message, long wait times, getting disconnected, receiving information from reps that is not noted in case notes later on (ie, broken promises, giving false hope), very poor call quality (very low volume on their end, I can barely hear half of them) and an attitude that basically states “you’re here for us, why should we do you any favors???”

This is not about loan modification this is about contacting EMC along with anything that would be your needs, I need to speak with someone right now about my existing mortgage insurance, I waisting here my morning trying to get someone to talk to me.
there is no way that I will get true, I so upset with the company about how bad services You have for customers instead of making them happy you make them angry if you have same complaints than why why and why is not correctec.

  4. Maria Leiva says:

Please make sure that at least you have some one answering the phones you have been the worst company I ever had in my life, there is no way to contac you, and by the computer I don’t have my past word, I’m very upset because I waist my time trying to get some on the line but I’m not successful, I wait that I get cut off, tried the same procces again and same and the same.
    can some one address this????????????????????????

  5. Charles says:

So much of this sounds familiar, but wanted to add my experience as well. Apologies for not having exact contacts and details as I’m doing this from work.

I’ve had several attempts at a Loan Modification now. Each time something seems to thwart my attempt.
    1. We had made payments as directed for three straight months. I than spoke with a rep in that Loan Mod dept and followed her instructions. The forms were submitted and we were told to ‘not make the next payment’ since the modification should be approved within the week (yes, I’m a fool for following this). For the next three weeks I attempted to contact the rep, leaving messages, etc. She only called me twice in that time, both when I was unable to answer the phone (at work). After four weeks I was put in touch with a different rep who notified me that the modification had been denied for ‘lack of interest’ on my part. The notes they read also stated that I showed a lack of interest since I was so difficult to reach and never returned calls!!!

    2. The only option I was given was to start another ‘program’, but this time I had to make 6 months of payments before I would be considered. This was done again. Unfortunately my situation at home changed, with my fiance moving out (with 1/2 of the payments). I wasn’t able to make the 7th month’s payment and again failed to qualify.

At this point I was told I had to go through with the plan for a third time. I was also notified that I did not have to wait for the end of the ‘plan’ to apply for the modification, that it could be done once the plan started?!?!?

It mystifies me, how such a large company can make fools of so many people. There’s so much more, but I’ll keep this brief. Perhaps the worst part of it is not being able to speak with the people you need to! You CANT get in touch with a rep, always being told that an email will be sent to the rep and the call returned ’soon’. As someone said earlier, this isn’t about customer service or even the customer. It’s about profit and loss…..simple as that, at any cost.

  6. Sandra Johansen says:

How do you contact EMC??? No matter what number I call, they either hang up on you after holding for over 15 minutes, or they leave you on hold indefinitely. What is going on??? Even when you enter your correct loan number and information, the voice says you are having trouble and being transferred. What else can you do?

  7. Damion Denton says:

This company is unbelievable… They always have some misc. fee for something or another that I never understand. Every month a new late fee regardless if its on time or not. Every time I call to straighten it out I am told its from the month before… that these fees follow me… wtf? I paid the fees so there shouldn’t be anything extra… There’s a return check fee from a year ago now that keeps re-occurring. So I just called about these issues again and the customer service representative suggests that I call and make my payment over the phone so that it will be processed properly and any fees will be noted then, but that I would also have to pay $10 servicing fee… I can’t believe these people are in business… they DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU WHATSOEVER. I believe they probably would rather see me loose my home than to aid me in keeping it… I have never ever missed a payment by the way… I guess you need to trash your credit and miss a bunch of payments before they will talk to you. I have done my best to not go this route… I wish i could refi and get away from these scumbags.
