When it comes to house selling tips, the best advice I can give is on how to find a good real estate agent. Most house selling tips come from self-serving listing agents. Mine do not.

I wrote an extensive article on how NOT to choose an agent a year or so ago. I thought I’d revisit the topic from a positive perspective rather than the negative…and just hit the big points!

Getting the right real estate help is imperative when attempting to sell your home. However, for most Americans finding the right real estate agent is not an easy process.

I can’t tell you how many times over my 15 years in the mortgage industry when I ask potential clients how they decided on their real estate help, I hear, “Oh, my brother-in-law is an agent”.

Never use a real estate referral from a real estate agent to locate your mortgage company as you may find yourself the victim of a common con game. Real estate referral cons can cost you dearly!

I see a commercial on TV for E-Agent.com.  Maybe you have seen them too…they have a big red circle with a lower case “e” in it.  It seems they are pretty new so don’t let them get any bigger!

1. Identify great deals

Well I got an invitation to speak on a panel about blogging for mortgage and real estate professionals. Others on the panel include Todd Carpenter of REMBEX, the guys of Sellsius, and Kristal Kraft, a big Active Rain real estate blogger.

I was recently on the dumb little man blog which gives good money saving tips. I came across a post on 10 questions to ask an agent before listing your home with them. I have no great bone to pick with the 10 items (they were all sound interview questions), but I do with what was missing.
